// about
I'm Matt Littlehale.
An engineering leader and builder. I run M. Littlehale & Co., a small consulting practice for teams that want their software to be a multiplier, not a tax.

I've spent the last twenty years leading engineering teams: setting technical direction, building the organizations that ship it, and writing the code when the work demands it. I'm a hands-on operator, not a strategy deck author.
Today I work as a fractional CTO and engineering advisor through M. Littlehale & Co. The practice is deliberately small. I take on a handful of engagements at a time so I can be substantively useful to each one, sitting inside the team and owning outcomes rather than handing over recommendations.
My focus areas are AI transformation, engineering organization design, and systems architecture, often combined in a single fractional CTO engagement. Much of my recent work has been on AI agents that have to hold up in production, where trust and reliability are not negotiable, including production systems at Nomad Health, a healthcare staffing company.
I speak about building AI agents that ship, most recently the talk Deterministic Until Proven Otherwise. I write about engineering and AI at matt.computer.
